What are Skills Bootcamp Courses?

Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks for adults aged 19 or over. They give people the opportunity to build up valuable sector-specific skills based on local employer demand and provide a direct path to a job on completion.

Skills Bootcamps are primarily aimed at delivering flexible training at levels 3-5 (medium to higher level technical skills), and level 2 in some sectors. They are co-designed or shaped with employers to respond to their skills shortages.

“I’d feel definitely more comfortable in a lab now than I did beforehand... The thing that helped a lot was understanding how you’d use practical techniques in an everyday lab.”

Ryan, Skills bootcamp student

Ongoing Guidance & Practical Support

Laboratory

“I had some theoretical understanding of ELISA before joining, but this course made it all make sense. Getting to apply it myself in a real lab, step by step, was the moment everything clicked. I’d say I feel far more confident now using practical techniques and explaining them properly.”
